New Year, New You (how is that going?)

Another New Year's Eve has come and gone. We tell ourselves that 'this year is going to be a NEW me.' Well, how are those resolutions going? Most of us give up after a few weeks...and continue to do whatever it was that 'we' were going to change. That is just how it happens sometimes. But, it doesn't have to be a low point, a failure, a self degrading comment in your head, or a judgement of character. It happens. The object is to try again. And then try again. And, in August, try again.
The fact that 'we' made these resolutions to 'ourselves' means 'we are trying' and sometimes, that is better than not trying at all. Remember, if you are passed by just walking the trail at the park, don't get discouraged, because 'you are still faster than the person on the couch.' Keep trying, keep going.
Same thing can be true with a meal mistake. 'Why did I have that cake when I was trying to not have sugary anything?' Try again. Avoid meal mistakes in time chunks, two weeks as an example, and then have a donut. Then two more weeks to a cake slice! Make it a personal goal game. Reward yourself, instead of a 'why?'
Simply trying, is so much better for you, than asking yourself why?
